In most political systems, citizens do not have direct contact with their political representatives. Politicians often operate in a highly mediatized environment, where the media serve as the main source of political information for citizens. The field of political communication studies how politics is represented in the media. How do people search for political information, and has this changed in the so-called digital era? How do people learn from political news, and when does political ideology interfere in this process? Do the media contribute to political polarization?

This course focuses on the impact of political information on public opinion and behavior. It helps students answer questions in political communication using a combined theoretical and practical approach.
